The Denver Nuggets lost a tough one against the Washington Wizards on Thursday; in a night where their most explosive player Kenneth Faried was benched and they were without their starting point guard Emmanuel Mudiay (ankle). Jameer Nelson started in place of Mudiay and the Nuggets started the game of better than they have started a game since Mudiay’s 24 point, 1st qtr explosion against the Boston Celtics.
Emmanuel Mudiay has had a bit of an up and down season as he has failed to get his team involved on most nights. Against the Brooklyn Nets the Nuggets coughed the ball up 9 times in the first quarter. The game after against the wizards they got an NBA high 28 turnovers. Although Mudiay has an issue with turnovers, the last game is sort of relieving as it proved Mudiay isn’t the main culprit for the team’s turnover problems. They must pinpoint the problem if they hope to have a chance of making the playoffs this season and it starts tonight in Orlando.
The Nuggets are looking to get back on track with a game against Orlando which might turn out to be harder than it sounds. The Nuggets will have a hard time keeping up with the ex-Nugget Evan Fournier without the help of Gary Harris. Will Barton will have his hands full on defense.
- Nikola Jokic (wrist) PROBABLE
- Emmanuel Mudiay (ankle) PROBABLE
- Gary Harris (foot) OUT
- Wilson Chandler (hip soreness) OUT
NOTES: The Denver Nuggets will be without rookie Malik Beasley tonight as they have sent him to the D-League.
