The Denver Nuggets head into Dallas Texas tonight to see if they can tame the Mavericks. What was being described as a season defining six game road trip, had turned into a season defining game against the Dallas Mavericks who are currently last in their division, and have seen some ups and down similar to that of the Nuggets thus far.
Denver will be looking to carry the momentum they got last game, where coach Malone was able to start honing in on some lineups that may be the key to Denver turning around what has been a rollercoaster ride of a season. Denver dominated the Magic in both rebounds, and points in the paint. Mainly from being aggressive towards the rim which allowed them to get high percentage shots.
FEED THE BIG MEN. With both the aging Nowitzki, and Bogut listed as out tonight, the big mean should be able to put in work down low. Last game Nurkic was able to get into rhythm and resemble what looked like Nurk of pre-season and ended the game with a highly efficient 8-11 field goal ending with 17 points in the game on only 20 minutes and collected a total of 8 rebounds. Jokic also ended the game with 6-11 shooting for 14 points, and 6 rebounds.
Denver is going to need to step up on the Defensive end, and figure out a way to shut down Harrison Barnes who’s averaging 20.6 points per game on the season, the Nuggets haven’t been prone to letting the opposing teams scorers do just that and drop big numbers on the Nuggets. Wilson chandler was listed a probable with hip soreness, the same hip that put him out all of the 2015 season. Coach Malone will need to put together a strategy on how to give Wilson some help out on the wing, maybe we’ll see another bright defense game from the emerging Juanco Hernangomez!
This game should be a good one, and a game that the nuggets can defiantly pull away from on a high note. We’ve seen the Nuggets implosions widely be attribute to turn over’s this season, something they’re going to have correct if they want to pull away from Texas with a win tonight. The nuggets find themselves in an awkward amount of pressure for facing such a inconstant team, but make no mistake. The stakes are high. Let’s hope the nuggets can buck the horse and continue to ride this momentum.
