Denver Nuggets @ San Antonio Spurs
Emmanuel Mudiay– DK:$4700 FD:$5000
This is tough, Mudiay has some serious momentum going his way, two straight games exceeding value including a 19 point, 13 assist career night. But, as we all know the Popovich led Spurs tend to have their way defensively vs their opponents. In fact, to the Point Guard position, the Spurs are in the top 5 in DFS points against giving up 40.9(FD) and 50.1(DK) points a night. Last time these two played, Mudiay was held to just 8 points and 5 assists, and i’m not sure we can expect anything differently this time out. While Mudiay may be rolling as of late, one of the unwritten rules of DFS states, that you should be extremely scared of playing Point Guards vs the Spurs.
Will Barton– DK:$6100 FD:$5300
With Gary Harris leaving very early in the last game vs the Lakers, WIll Barton decided it was his time to shine. The guard dropped in 26 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and dished out a career high(!) 8 assists. He turned in one of his best games in a Nugget uniform and it translated perfectly to DFS, as he speeded past value and turned in a great performance for the price you payed. The Spurs are not as great defensively vs Shooting Guards as they allow 43.1 DraftKings points a game, 9th worst in the league. On Fanduel it is very similar as they allow 36.8 points a game, 8th worst in the league. With Barton’s usage rate set to be through the roof because of Harris’ nagging injuries, I once again feel Barton is a great play on today’s small slate.
Wilson Chandler– OUT(Personal)
Danilo Gallinari– DK:$5400 FD:$5900
This is where the Spurs are able to flex on the entire league as they get to roll out a 2 time, reigning Defensive Player of the Year winner, Kawhi Leonard, at Small Forward. That translates over to DFS just as you would expect, as they are second best in the NBA vs Small Forwards. Last time out vs SA, Danilo was held to just 15 points which meant a night in DFS which saw him not come close to reaching value. This seems like one of the worst matchup on the slate, so I think it’s very smart that you stay away.
Kenneth Faried– DK:$5200 FD:$5600
Nikola Jokić– DK-$8700 FD:-$9400
Although they both play different positions on the court, both Faried and Jokić’s matchup tonight are top 2 defensively against their respected position. Both LaMarcus Aldridge and Pau Gasol are defensive juggernauts who pride themselves, on not only being very skilled offensive weapons but also being fantastic defenders. Faried and Jokić however are in two different positions tonight, with Faried’s price being not super expensive, I like his chances to creep up to value, if not hitting it. His game consists of taking so many high percentage shots and out working others on the glass that I see him having a nice night. Jokić however is expensive, no getting, around it. Splashing upper $8,000’s to mid $9,000’s for a player in one of the worst matchups of the night is hard to do, even for a guy of Jokić’s ability. He is gonna have to do a lot to hit value tonight and I’m not sure it’s worth taking that risk and spending that much. I think tonight is a night to sit it out when it comes to playing “The Joker”.
