Tonight, the Nuggets will be hosting Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns before heading to play them once more in Phoenix. Both teams, as we know, are dominated by young players but both teams hold a lot of potential. Just yesterday, Nikola Jokic (Serbia), Emmanuel Mudiay (Democratic Republic of the Congo) , and Jamal Murray (Canada) were added to Team World for the upcoming NBA All-Star Weekend. Our three Nuggets will be joined by Devin Booker and Marquese Chriss, who were named to Team USA for the Rising Stars Challenge.
Since our return from London, the Nuggets have continued to improve upon their defense and tonight isn’t a night to stop playing that D. I’m definitely looking forward to the Nuggets getting W’s in the next two games against the Suns, especially after a beautiful win on Tuesday night against the Jazz. Perhaps the Nuggets could expand on their three game winning streak with a four game as they finish out the month of January against the Suns (tonight and Saturday) and then in LA against the Lakers on Tuesday.
As of right now, our Nuggets hold the 8th seed of the Western Conference, but they have no intentions of just settling for that last playoff spot.
“Everybody just keeps talking about the eighth seed. Why is there a cap on making the playoffs as just an eight seed?” -Michael Malone
Both teams are going into tonights game at 5-5 for their last ten (not to mention that Denver has won 5 of their last 7 games). Our Nuggets are 11-11 here in the Pepsi Center, while the Suns are just 7-17 on the road, giving us the advantage.
The Nuggets are leading the season series 2-0 with the Nuggets dropping 120 in each of those games.

- The Nuggets (3rd) and Suns (4th) rank in the top 5 in offensive rebounding. Limit the Suns to one shot.
- The Suns rank 3rd on fast break efficient while the Nuggets rank 4th. The team that gets out ad runs, as well as stops the break, will have the advantage.
- Phoenix is in the bottom three in turnovers per game. Expose them.
