The Nuggets have been searching for a star ever since Carmelo Anthony forced his way out of the powder blue and into the Hob Goblin like orange. With multiple players on the roster this year whom are seemingly oozing “star potential” the Nuggets have pleased many of their followers. Building through the draft has been the plan and it has worked wonderfully as the Nuggets have been able to add young talents headlined by Emmanuel Mudiay, Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. But what if I told you that there is a star player on the market that the Nuggets have the assets to acquire? Would it be worth it to lose the assets they’ve worked so hard to acquire? I say yes. As long as that player is not well into his prime like Paul Milsap.
According to multiple reports, the Bulls are revisiting the idea of trading their star Jimmy Butler. Butler adds both elite defense and above average offense to the small forward or guard position. Butler also adds a late game element that the Nuggets have thus far lacked this season. If the Nuggets can find a way to acquire Butler without giving up any of the aforementioned Nuggets, they could very well put themselves in a position to make a deep run in the western conference playoffs. A deal centered around their two first rounders this year, their first rounder next year and Jusuf Nurkic would make an excellent foundation for this blockbuster trade to be executed. Fans of the Nuggets, keep a close eye on the trade market because the Nuggets are one of the teams who’s phones just do not stop ringing.
