We’re back in the Mile High City tonight following a major loss on Saturday night against the San Antonio Spurs. The Nuggets hope to have a win against Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks.
In our most recent meeting on December 19th, the Nuggets beat the Mavs 117-107. Nikola Jokic led all scorers with 27 points, 15 rebounds, and 9 assists. Danilo Gallinari, Jokic, Wilson Chandler, Emmanuel Mudiay, and Gary Harris outscored the Mavericks starters 100-58 and all Nuggets starters ended the game in the double digits.
That night, the Nuggets shot 57% from the field and 54.2% from downtown. We had 33 defensive rebounds and seven offensive rebounds for the night. The Mavs were led by Deron Williams, but his 23 points weren’t enough to put a stop to the Nuggets. The Mavericks shot 53.1% from the field and 56% from the three-point line. Identical to the Nuggets free throw percentage, the Mavericks also shot 77.8% from the line, missing two of their nine free throws.
Both teams are coming into tonights game banged up, as the Nuggets will not have Danilo Gallinari for the third consecutive game due to a groin strain. Emmanuel Mudiay is questionable and Jamal Murray is probable. The Mavericks will not have J.J. Barea or Andrew Bogut. Devin Harris is probable and Deron Williams in questionable.
In our last two meetings, the Mavericks have not had Dirk Nowitzki due to an achilles strain but now he’s back. After having a rough start to the season, the Mavs have switched things up by going to a smaller lineup and have had success with it thus far.
The Nuggets (22-28) and the Mavs (20-30) are both frantically working towards the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
