After a huge win on Monday night against the Golden State Warriors, the Nuggets took a very disappointing loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, 112-99, as they head into the All-Star Break.
Not that it needs to be said, but the Nuggets were just absolutely not on their A-game tonight and the fact that they’re missing three starters has really started to show. The depth of the Nuggets roster would have been very helpful in the Pepsi Center but, once again, we did not have starters Danilo Gallinari, Kenneth Faried, or Emmanuel Mudiay due to injury. We also did not have Darrell Arthur or Wilson Chandler due to injury or illness.
Denver was led by Gary Harris, who put up 22 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists in his 38 minutes. Off of the bench, Will Barton contributed 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists. Nikola Jokic put up 15 points, making only 6/19 tonight. Jokic also added 14 rebounds and 4 assists.
Mason Plumlee made his debut in blue and gold as a surprise starter tonight beside Gary Harris, Jameer Nelson, Juancho Hernangomez, and Nikola Jokic. Plumlee, who played 34 minutes at altitude, added 11 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists to the Nuggets 99 points tonight.
The Andrew Wiggins – Karl-Anthony Towns combination was lethal tonight as they put up a combined 64 points. Wiggins had 40 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. Karl-Anthony Towns contributed 24 points, 19 boards, and 2 dimes.
The Timberwolves improve to 22-35 on their season. Denver drops to 25-31. The Nuggets still have their hold on the 8th seed entering the All-Star Break.
