The Blue Arrow was on fire tonight in the Rising Stars Challenge and scored the MVP title for this years game. Jamal Murray was red hot as he finished with a double-double scoring 36 points, adding 11 assists, and shooting a smooth 13/19 from the field. Murray with his sharpshooting skills scored most of his points downtown, as he made 9/14 from three. Leading all scorers Jamal helped lead Team World in a 150-point victory over Team USA who finished with 141.
It was great to finally see some national recognition for the young, talented shooting guard. Murray hasn’t had a great showcasing these past couple of months and not getting a lot of minutes has slowed down his production on the floor, however, he has showed his potential to score in this year Rising Stars Challenge. Murray also won Rookie of the Month in November. The potential for Murray is high and in the next few years, we could be seeing the next scoring machine for Denver.
His partner in crime, The Joker, had a solid game as well. Nikola Jokic finished with almost another triple-double with 12 PTS, 11 REB, and dishing out 8 assists in his 21 minutes. If given more time, Nikola would of easily been able to get his third triple-double of the year. With his huge months in January and February, Jokic has made a name for himself within the league. With showing improvement across the board, The Joker is looking more and more like a rising star for Denver.
It’s easy to say it’s an extremely exciting time to be a Nuggets fan. With such a young team and with the growing talent of Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic, we will be seeing a fun team for years to come. Who knows we might be seeing both talented players in next years All-Star game.
