The season is quickly coming to a close, which means teams are currently battling for a Playoff spot or positioning. The Nuggets find themselves in that battle for the 8th seed in the Western Conference. However with great play recently, they’ve started to make room from Portland, Sacramento, and Minnesota to keep ownership of the 8th seed. Denver does have a pretty tough schedule ahead, which will be a great test for this team to try and hold on for that last spot.
If the Nuggets keep a hold on the 8th seed, they would most likely face the Golden State Warriors in the first round. It would be a miracle if Denver won the series, but with a huge win last time these teams met, I think Denver could win a game or two. Ultimately Denver would lose the series, but that’s not the point. It would be a huge victory for Denver by playing in a Playoff atmosphere, which would help give this young team experience and the thrive to get back every year.
Denver hasn’t made the Playoffs since the 2012-2013 season and with low numbers with attendance in those years, it shows the Nuggets need to win to get attention from the home crowd. With the recent emergence of the big man Nikola Jokic the seats are starting to fill again in the Pepsi Center. By making the Playoffs this would help bring back that winning mentality, and continue to grow the fan base back.
With being in the Playoffs, of course the Nuggets would get some love by being in spotlight. Denver is a fun team watch and with limited amount of games on National TV, not many people are able to watch this high powered offense put in work.
What I currently love about this team is the chemistry and you have no idea who’s going to go off on that certain night. Like I said above, if Denver does pull off a victory or two against one of the best teams in the NBA, it would turn some heads and help the Nuggets get the attention they deserve not just from fans and analysts, but from players in the NBA.
Denver is one superstar away from being a pretty big threat once again in the West. Getting to the Playoffs this year will help get the attention from big name players. As we know, Denver did make a huge push to try and land Paul George at the trade deadline. Unfortunately that didn’t work out, but it shows Denver is trying to land that All-Star player. Also with almost landing Dwyane Wade in the Off-Season, Denver is on the right track and showing they’re ready to win now which will help attract All-Star caliber players to the mile high city.
