Washington Wizards @ Denver Nuggets
Jameer Nelson– DK:$5400 FD:$5400
Jamal Murray– DK:$4200 FD:$3700
The woes of Jameer Nelson continue as last time out vs the Kings he only scored 6 points. His minutes were once again very high as he played 30 minutes, he’s usually a lock to be around 28-32 minutes. His assists were the highest they had been in the last 5 games at 6, which is a good sign. But, for the 7th straight game, he failed to reach 15 points which we need to see get back up. Tonight the Nuggets go up against the Washington Wizards and a team that is top 3 in defense against point guards. On Fanduel they allow around 44 points per game while on DraftKings they allow 42 points per game. With Jameer needing around 25 points to reach value it isn’t crazy to think he can get it, but with his cold streak currently going on it may be difficult. While Jameer will have to worry about stopping John Wall when on Defense, it may take a lot out of Jameer to do this meaning his offensive numbers may dive again. The Kings game was not a good one for Jamal Murray either, as he failed to reach value for the first time in 4 games. His minutes were only 18 minutes so if that stays the same it will be hard for him to reach value. He is still a decent punt play however with his minutes being as low as they are, his ceiling is very low.
Gary Harris-DK$5200: FD:$5400
Will Barton– DK:$5100 FD:$5800
Both Barton and Harris were looking to bounce back after sub-par performances two games ago vs the Hornets. Harris was able to do that as he went for 15 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. This was the type of game that owners expect to see from Harris on a night in and night out basis. He went 5-7 from the field and 2-3 from downtown so hopefully, this shows that his one bad game is well behind him. For Will Barton, however, he was not able to bounce back from his bad game. Against the Kings, he had 9 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists. This marked his third straight game, and 4th out of his last 5, in which he was not able to get us value. He was once again cold from the field as he was just 3-9 and 2-6 from three. The Wizards and Bradley Beal are top a top 10 team vs shooting guards as they allow 39.4 points per game on Fanduel and on DraftKings allow 33.9 points per game. Both guys prices remain mid 5k so both look like plays in which could easily get you value on this large slate. But be aware of the tough matchup for Denver and the fact Barton has not been playing great as of late.
Wilson Chandler-DK:$6000 FD:$6300
Danilo Gallinari(QUESTIONABLE)–DK:$6100 FD:$6600
While one player, Gallo, is really sick with an illness, the other, Wilson Chandler, was straight up sick in the last game vs the Kings. Ill Will in 43 minutes dropped a career-high 36 points to go along with 12 rebounds and 4 assists in a big Nuggets win. Off the bat, it looked like it was going to be a great game as it did not take long at all for him to get it going. He shot efficiently from the floor as he went 12-23 and hit an amazing 5 threes on 10 attempts. With Faried still out, Chandler will see plenty more chances to have some great performances like he did last game. As for Gallo, he is questionable for tonight’s game with an illness. It seems the sick bug is hitting the Nuggets as he and Jokic are both questionable. Gallo is coming off a good game where he scored 18 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and had 2 assists. If he is not able to play, look for the Nuggets to use more of Will Barton and Darrell Arthur. Small forward is one position the Wizards don’t defend particularly great as they are bottom 12 in the league. This means Chandler could have himself another good game and should be heavily considered when making lineups. As for Gallo, if we do not know his status before the games lock, I don’t feel you can slot him into your lineup as he would be a big risk to not play.
Nikola Jokić(QUESTIONABLE)– DK-$10,100 FD:-$9800
Mason Plumlee– DK-$4300 FD-$5300
Nikola Jokic has been downgraded to questionable tonight with an illness meaning it is looking more and more like Denver will be without its star for a second consecutive night. Even if Jokic is able to play, look for him to be handicapped at a certain amount of minutes as he builds back up his stamina. With him priced above $10,000 on both Fanduel and Draftkings, we cannot afford to play someone that expensive whose status may not be known by the time lineups lock. If Jokic is unable to play tonight, that means Mason Plumlee will slide into the starting 5 again. The first start as a Nugget went pretty well for Plumlee as he had himself his first double-double as a part of the Mile High crew. He had himself 10 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 assists to go with a block and a steal. Those are the exact numbers that Denver envisioned him being able to produce in an expanded role when they got him from the Blazers. There is of course room to improve as he went just 3-10 from the field but in DFS play as long as he hits value we are ok with however he does it, similar to how Russell Westbrook plays. The Wizards are a slightly above average team defensively vs centers but Plumlee will look to be a vacuum on the glass and improve his shooting numbers from the field. If he is able to do that we may be in for another great Plumlee performance for us DFS owners.
