In the fourth and final game of this home stand, the Nuggets were looking for a big win and that’s what they found against the second best team in the East in a season sweep over Boston.
The Nuggets brought the energy that they were missing on Wednesday night, that that’s what helped them to get the 119-99 win over the Boston Celtics.
Denver was led by Wilson Chandler, who had 23 points and 8 rebounds. Danilo Gallinari and Nikola Jokic returned to the Nuggets starting lineup and combined for 41 points. Jokic was on triple-double watch but ended the game with 21 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 steals. Gallinari contributed with 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals.
Jamal Murray led the bench with 13 points and 3 boards in his 17 minutes. After starting the last two games, Mason Plumlee came off of the bench and had another good game with 8 points (4/4), 5 boards, and 4 assists.
Tonight was, by far, the most physical win that the Nuggets have had this season and everybody kept commenting that this game had a playoff vibe to it. In the fourth quarter, the Nuggets went four minutes without scoring and the Celtics went five minutes without scoring.
Time and time again, we’ve heard Gallo, Plumlee, and various others comment that we need to play for a full four quarters that that’s what happened tonight. The Nuggets outscored Boston in all four quarters.
“We have to approach every game like it’s our last and play with a sense of desperation like we did tonight.” -Coach Malone
