Los Angeles Lakers @ Denver Nuggets
Jameer Nelson(QUESTIONABLE)– DK:$4600 FD:$5000
Jamal Murray– DK:$4100 FD:$3800
Jameer Nelson is questionable for tonight’s game vs the Lakers with a right hip flexor strain. The guard for the Nuggets has had a string of subpar DFS nights for owners including last game where he scored just 8 points, has 2 rebounds, and 4 assists. He has now only hit value in just 1 out of his 6 last games, and a big reason for that is his low scoring numbers he has posted. It has been 5 games since he has scored even double digit points but his assists remain solid as they usually are around 5 a game. Tonight’s matchup presents a great chance for him to get back into the scoring department as he faces a bottom 5 team in the league vs point guards in DFS. Last time the Nuggets and the Lakers played, Jameer had a very nice night, he scored 9 points, added 5 rebounds, and 7 assists. That performance was good enough for him to reach value and he will need to have a similar DFS point game to do that again tonight. On the other hand, Jamal Murray has had no trouble scoring the ball these last three games and is making Mike Malone look good for getting him more minutes. In 7 out of his last 8 games, he has scored double-digit points and has also hit value in all of those games. With his minutes increasing he looks more and more like a great value play tonight vs the Lakers.
Gary Harris-DK$5800: FD:$5600
Will Barton– DK:$4900 FD:$5100
Similar to point guard for the Nuggets, Gary Harris is having no trouble scoring while Will Barton is struggling the most we have seen all season. We will start with the good as Gary Harris has been on fire as of late. He is constantly challenging and even setting new career highs for the Nuggets while shooting extremely efficient from the floor. Since February 15th he has had 5 20+ point nights while averaging over 17 points throughout that stretch. He has also hit value in 3 out of his last 4 games and has some serious momentum on his side to take into vs the Lakers. Tonight he goes up against a bottom 10 team in the league vs shooting guards, as they allow 42 points per game on Fanduel and 43 points per game on DraftKings. Not only is Harris still playing lights out defense, highlighted by him holding Isiah Thomas to 21 points, but he is proving to be a real threat on the offensive side of the ball. At his criminally underpriced price tag tonight, he should be in almost every lineup. Will Barton, however, has not been killing it as he scored just 2 points last game out vs the Kings. That was his 6th game out of 8 games in which he did not reach double-digit scoring, something very concerning for a high volume shooter like he is. He has also seen his minutes drop off a lot, he has played just 20 and 16 minutes the last two games. With how streaky of a player he is, it may be best to wait for him to get back on track before putting him in your lineups.
Wilson Chandler(QUESTIONABLE)-DK:$7200 FD:$6700
Danilo Gallinari–DK:$6200 FD:$6500
A groin injury may keep Wilson Chandler out of tonight’s prime time game vs the Lakers in Denver. This will be a huge loss to not only the Nuggets but the entire DFS community as he has been playing some great basketball as of late. In 3 out of his last 4 games, he has gone for over 33 DFS points, including a monster 36 point, 12 rebound game vs the Kings. Don’t read too much into his last game as the Kings, who had recently been burned by Ill Will, tried very hard to take him out of the game and not let him repeat his performance. The only thing stopping DFS owners from plugging him in right away is the fact we may not know his status before games lock at 7 PM ET. If he is unable to play tonight that means, even more, chances to score for Danilo Gallinari. Gallo has been underperforming DFS wise but is still playing really solid basketball, like he has all season up to this point. The Lakers are again a bottom 10 team in the league against Small Forwards so a big offensive night could be in store for the Italian forward. His price remains not super expensive and he should be considered when making lineups for tonight’s slate.
Nikola Jokić– DK-$10,400 FD:-$10,000
Mason Plumlee– DK-$6100 FD-$5700
Kenneth Faried will most likely miss his 8th straight game with his back injury but is coming closer and closer to returning to the team. As for the Nuggets that will be playing tonight, especially Nikola Jokic, this is a great matchup and a great opportunity to give us DFS owners plenty of value. Jokic is coming off of back to back double-doubles and back to back 40+ DFS nights. While he will need to give us around 50 DFS tonight to reach value, it seems very doable. The Lakers are the second worst team in the NBA vs centers on DFS. They allow 51 points per game, Fanduel, and 54 points per game, DraftKings. That is music to Jokic owners ears, and if that wasn’t enough to convince you to use him, the last time Jokic played vs the Lakers might. On January 17th Jokic dropped in 29 points, 15 rebounds, 1 assist, and 3 blocks. While the assists were low, nobody will ever complain about that kind of stat line. If you feel comfortable forking over that large amount of salary to get Jokic, he should reward you handsomely. Also, Mason Plumlee has been playing really well for the Denver Nuggets as he has hit value in 3 out of his last 4 games. Two of those games came as a starter but his most recent game vs the Kings showed owners what he can do, even in a smaller role. In just 21 minutes, Plumlee put together a rather amazing 8 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists, and 3 block night. This is not the first time Plumlee has flirted with a triple-double with the Nuggets as well. As he gets more games under his belt as a Nugget you can see his comfort level rising and his assist numbers are proof of that. He is usually always around 5 assists a night and can get that number as high as 8, as we have seen. Plumlee seems like a nice cheap option at center tonight on this 8 game slate.
