Jamal Murray’s All-Star weekend rolls on as he faces Clippers guard Lou Williams in round one of the Taco Bell Skills Challenge.
Where: Los Angeles, California – Staples Center
When: 6 p.m. MST
The Nuggets have been regulars in the Taco Bell Skills Challenge as former Nugget Emmanuel Mudiay competed in the contest two years ago, and Nikola Jokic competed just last season. Mudiay was eliminated by Isaiah Thomas in Round one and Jokic was eliminated in round two by Kristaps Porzingis. The challenge uses a bracket format and Jamal Murray is on the backcourt side of the bracket with Lou Williams, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Donovan Mitchell.
The challenge consists of dribbling, one pass, a lay up, and then finishes with a three-point shot. Williams will be fairly motivated for the contest as he felt like he should’ve been playing in the real All-Star game on Sunday night.

Williams is currently averaging a career high 23.2 points per game and is shooting over 37 percent from behind the three-point line. This will be Williams and Murray’s first appearance in the challenge, so experience will be the same for both players. Both Williams and Murray have tendencies to play big in clutch moments, which could make for an interesting round one of the skills challenge.
This will be Murray’s second and final event at All-Star weekend after he followed up last years MVP performance in the Rising Stars game with another strong performance this year. Murray went for 21 points, seven assists, and six rebounds in Team Worlds dismantling of Team USA 155-124. Stay tuned to Dig In Denver and find out if Jamal Murray was able to bring home the victory.
