The Denver Nuggets went into tonight’s game eighth in the Western Conference playoff seeding and looked to finish their three game road trip with an easy win against Mark Cuban and his tanking Dallas Mavericks, but ended up losing horribly. The Mavericks made the Nuggets look disorganized and dysfunctional in the second half by coming back from a nine point deficit and beating them 118-107.
What helped the Mavericks win tonight was the poor production from the Nuggets’ starters. Jamal Murray, Gary Harris, Paul Millsap, and Nikola Jokic combined for a total of 12-40 on field goals. Murray and Jokic looked the most off tonight only scoring for combined total of 10 points.
I know the game isn't over, but if the Nuggets miss the playoffs it is because of games like these.
No team plays up against the world's best only to consistently struggle in games like thid one. Symptomatic of their youth, but not an excuse.
Playoff teams win the gimme games.

Wilson Chandler and Will Barton looked to be the only two really putting any effort into this matchup. Chandler finished with 21 points while Barton added 16. Malik Beasley had a great game finishing with 10 points, but I only say that because he was given 17 minutes out on the court tonight. I like seeing him play because he has potential to become a part of the regular rotation.
Tonight was just one of those games. Here are some stats you probably shouldn’t read.
41% FG% 48%
31% 3P% 56%
77% FT% 74%
23 AST 24
8 BLKs 3
The Nuggets play their second game of a back-to-back tomorrow March 7th, against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
